Sambhar Salt Lake gets water from five lakes named, Medtha, Samaod, Mantha, Rupangarh, Khari and Khandela. 5.1 Km long sandstone dam isolates this lake, and the doors are lifted when the salty water comes to over the utmost. There are saltwater dissipating lakes toward the east of the lake. Salt is been cultivated for a large number of years from this lake. It is home to a ton of winged creatures, and the perspective on this lake is really a gift.
Civilization here goes back a long, long time and legends abound. According to one reference in the epic Mahabharata, Raja Yayati, emperor of Bharatvarsh (India) and a descendant of Lord Brahma the Creator, married Devyani, daughter of Shukracharya (the guru of demons) who lived by the lake.
